Features
- 14 drive bays with 4mm drive spacing
- Designed for NetApp-style drive sleds but a custom sled is also available. Check the profiles.
- Side panels fully perforated for exhaust airflow
- Side panel mounts 4× 80mm fans for intake
- Inline airflow design compatible with PC case fan setups
- Straight-through SATA connectors can be mounted on rear brackets for cable management and easy swapping.
- Drives connect via standard SATA data and power cables. Straight through connectors are useful but not required.
Cooling
- Under load with active cooling: drives stabilize in the mid-30s°C. (+ a few degrees more when inside the computer due to less airflow)
- Cooling is 100% necessary. Top drives hit 70°C without it.
Hardware Required
- M3 screws and heat set inserts - SATA bracket and fan mounting
- M6 screws and heat set inserts - frame and stand assembly
- 4× 80mm fans
- 14x SATA straight-through connectors (optional)
- HBA card: I used the LSI 9300 series, with an added 80mm fan and 4x SAS to SATA breakout cables
- PSU SATA Cables
- PSU with:
- enough SATA ports to handle the additional cables
- at least 200W of headroom on top of what your PC already draws
