Description

Bambulab P1S Reversible LED Frame Upgrade

This upgrade allows the additional LED strip to turn ON and OFF exactly like the original Bambulab P1S lighting system.
The LEDs can therefore be controlled remotely both from the Bambulab App and directly from the printer display.

During testing, I verified that most LED strips long enough to cover the entire chamber perimeter exceed the maximum current that the original Bambulab P1S LED output can safely provide.

The original P1S board is not designed to supply more than approximately 300mA directly from the LED connector.
Connecting a high-power LED strip directly to the Bambulab LED output may permanently damage the printer mainboard.

For this reason, this project uses a MOSFET switching system that allows you to:

  • safely use external USB power,
  • drive much more powerful LED strips,
  • maintain the original automatic ON/OFF functionality,
  • avoid stressing or damaging the Bambulab electronics.

If the MOSFET does not switch correctly, connect the USB power supply negative wire to the negative wire of the original Bambulab LED connector.

Printing Notes

  • Recommended material: PLA or PETG
  • Print orientation already optimized
  • No supports required for most parts
