🛠️ This dial gauge holder was specifically developed for the Bambu Lab X2D and allows for quick and precise manual bed leveling directly on the toolhead.

The holder is attached to the toolhead with a slight tilting motion from bottom to top and then sits stable and secure. No screws, no magnets, and no modifications to the printer are necessary.

📏 Supports standard dial gauges with an 8 mm shaft.

The dial gauge is secured using a fully printed clamping device, including a printed screw. Despite PLA, the clamping works surprisingly stable and reliably.

I developed the holder to:

  • quickly check the flatness of the print bed
  • manually fine-tune the bed
  • verify the consistency of automatic calibration

Especially for technical materials or large prints, it is helpful to be able to directly measure the actual bed geometry.

⚠️ Important note on the print profile:

Please use the included print profile unchanged.

The threaded area of the printed screw intentionally uses a layer height of 0.16 mm on the lower layers, while the rest of the print is done at 0.20 mm. This makes the thread significantly cleaner and smoother.

Although the screw also works with a continuous 0.20 mm, it feels noticeably rougher.

🖨️ Print information:

  • Material: PLA
  • Support required
  • Use standard orientation
  • Included print profile recommended

If anyone creates adaptations for other dial gauges or future toolheads: feel free to share 🙂

I invested a lot of time in the snap-on fit and the fully printed clamp so that everything works easily, stably, and without additional hardware.

Happy leveling 📏🛠️

can you explain why a dial indicator would be necessary, as the x2d has auto bed leveling

The X2D already has automatic bed leveling. The holder is therefore not intended as a replacement, but for checking and fine-tuning the actual bed geometry. Bambu Lab also describes a manual "Bed Tramming" in the official wiki to correct mechanical deviations of the print bed: https://wiki.bambulab.com/en/p2s/maintenance/manual-bed-tramming The automatic compensation then works on a better mechanical basis 🙂

Tried but the comparator makes micro-movements while the head moves, falsifying the measurements

I'm sorry to hear that. I haven't had that problem. Can you tell me in which direction the dial indicator is moving and whether the dial itself is moving directly in the clamp or if the whole housing is too loose
