Recommended Print Settings

Because chrome paint highlights every single imperfection, getting a smooth print right off the build plate will save you hours of prep work.

• Material: PLA, PETG, or ABS. (ABS or ASA are highly recommended as they are the easiest to sand).
• Layer Height: 0.12mm or lower to minimize layer lines. Adaptive works great.
• Infill: Your choice.
• Wall Loops: 3 to 4 walls. This provides extra shell thickness so you don't accidentally sand through to the infill.

How to Achieve a Mirror Chrome Finish

Getting a realistic, liquid-metal look is all about the preparation.

1. Sand & Prime: Sand the raw print smooth. Apply a sandable automotive filler primer, then wet-sand with high-grit sandpaper (400 up to 2000) until the surface feels completely smooth.
2. The Gloss Black Base: This is the most crucial step for a mirror finish. Apply a high-gloss black paint. The smoother and shinier this black base coat is, the more reflective the final chrome will be. Allow it to fully cure.
3. Apply the Chrome: Spray a high-quality liquid chrome paint (using an airbrush or a premium spray can) in light, thin coats over the gloss black base.
4. Handling: True chrome paint can smudge easily and most standard clear coats will dull the mirror effect into a flat silver. Handle the finished piece by the back edges, or use a specialized clear coat designed specifically to protect chrome finishes.
