Rhizome Starter Box for Alocasia & Co – 3D Print File

With this specially designed 3D printed grid, rhizomes can finally sprout upright instead of lying flat. This allows new shoots to grow straight upwards and develop much more stably and naturally

The grid was deliberately designed so that the small stem bases of the rhizomes can stand securely and stably without tipping over or remaining constantly wet

Design Highlights

Grid size approx 5 x 5 cm

With 5 small holes specifically for rhizome stem bases, in addition to many free spaces in the leaf design, so that multiple rhizomes can be flexibly placed

Suitable for single or multiple rhizomes simultaneously, the rhizomes stand stably and upright

No direct contact with water → lower risk of mold and rot, meaning optimal air circulation around the rhizome

This promotes straight, healthy shoot growth

Application

The 3D printed grid is simply inserted into a transparent acrylic box

The box used is approx 5 x 5 cm and is affordably available (e.g. via Amazon)

The closed acrylic box creates almost 100% humidity without the rhizomes having to lie directly in the water

The bottom of the box can be filled with:

only water

or

water with some root complex / root stimulator

to further accelerate root formation and growth

Benefits

  • Rhizomes sprouting straight instead of crooked
  • Less risk of mold and rot
  • High humidity without waterlogging
  • Perfect for Alocasia rhizomes
  • Space-saving system for multiple rhizomes
  • Ideal for collectors, plant lovers, and propagation

Notes:

  • The transparent acrylic box is not part of the file and serves only as an example for use
  • It is recommended to use PETG
  • Important: Activate the "Detect Thin Walls" option in the slicer!

No commercial use!

I would be very happy if you mention my name when posting the printed models:-)
