Description

Designed specifically for creators using the Nikon ZR as a video-first camera, this replacement grip transforms the feel of the standard SmallRig cage into something more comfortable and practical for handheld filmmaking.

The original cage grip felt more photography-oriented, which makes sense on traditional hybrid cameras with viewfinders. But the Nikon ZR is marketed as a Z-Cinema camera without a built-in EVF, meaning most users will spend their time shooting video, monitoring externally, and operating the camera from a more cinematic grip position.

This redesigned grip features a deeper ergonomic contour intended for longer handheld shooting sessions, improved wrist positioning, and better overall control during video operation. The shape encourages a more natural forward-facing grip while maintaining compatibility with the existing SmallRig cage mounting points.

Features:

  • Ergonomic video-focused grip design
  • Compatible with the SmallRig cage for Nikon ZR
  • Improved comfort for handheld filmmaking
  • Better leverage for low-angle and moving shots
  • Designed specifically around cinema-style operation
  • Lightweight and easy to print

Recommended Print Settings:

  • Material: PETG or PLA+
  • Layer Height: 0.20mm
  • Infill: 25–40%
  • Supports: Not Required (depending on orientation)
  • Walls: 3–4 recommended

If you print and use the grip, feel free to upload your make and share your setup.
