Give your helmet the display stand it deserves — because sitting it on a shelf like a sad plastic bucket just feels wrong.
This is a 3D printable helmet stand inspired by the classic Star Wars holochess board design. It has a clean sci-fi display base, a tall centre support for helmets, and a black-and-white holochess-style top pattern to give it that proper galaxy-far-far-away feel.
The version shown in the photos was printed with a Silk Silver PLA base, which gives the outer ring a nice metallic shine and makes it look a bit more like an in-universe display plinth.
Included Versions
I have included two different options for the holochess board part:
AMS Version
For anyone with an AMS/multicolour setup, the black and white board pattern can be printed directly as part of the model.
Non-AMS / Separate Parts Version
For anyone without an AMS, I have also included a version with:
Black base section
Separate white holochess board pieces
White parts can be printed separately and glued into place
So no AMS? No problem. Just a bit of glue and some patience — the ancient Jedi way.
Printing Notes
The display base in my photos was printed in Silk Silver PLA.
Because silk filament can look better when printed slower, the profile has slower settings for:
- Outer walls
- Inner walls
- Top layers
This helps bring out the shine and reduce the usual silk filament weirdness.
If you are printing the base in a normal PLA, matte PLA, or anything that is not silk, you can safely change those speeds back to your usual/default settings.
Notes
This stand should work well for a range of helmets and masks, but larger or heavier helmets may need extra care depending on balance and print settings.
As always, make sure your prints are fully cooled before assembly, test fit parts before gluing, and don’t blame the Wookiee if you glue something upside down.
