This model was carefully prepared for 3D printing and designed as a two-part lightbox:
- Front lid / colored crest
- Back box / full rear body
The front lid contains the colored crest details, while the back box works as the main housing for the light. This makes the print safer and more practical: if something goes wrong during the colored part, you do not lose the full box print.
The colored front piece was designed with an important lightbox printing detail:
The crest/symbol area is printed with 6 layers total.
The first 3 layers contain the colors, and the last 3 layers are white only.
Those 3 white layers behind the colors help connect and lock the colored sections together. This is very important for lightbox prints, because many people have problems when the colored parts do not fuse together properly. When removing the piece from the build plate, small isolated color sections can come loose. The white backing layers help prevent that and also improve the light diffusion.
The result is a cleaner, stronger and more reliable lightbox front.
