Advanced Customization

  • Rounding / Fillets: Use the knob_top_finish and grip_bar_finish settings to add smooth fillets or sharp chamfers to your edges.
  • Bottom Indent: If your shaft has a nut or a raised mounting hub, use the bottom_indent_diameter to create a recess so the knob can sit flush against the appliance surface.
  • Grip Bar Length: By default, the bar handle spans the full diameter. Use grip_bar_base_length to create a shorter "winged" handle.
  • Indicator Angle: If your original knob's "Off" position is at an unusual angle, use the indicator_angle and shaft_rotation parameters to match it perfectly.

 

How to Measure for a Perfect Fit

  1. Shaft Diameter: Measure the diameter of the metal shaft. For a D-shaft, measure the widest part.
  2. D-Shaft Flat: Measure from the round side to the flat side.
  3. Height & Diameter: Match the original knob or design your own!
  4. Tolerance: The default shaft_tolerance is 0.15mm, but you may need to adjust this depending on your printer's accuracy.

 

Printing Tips

  • Material: PETG or ABS/ASA are recommended for kitchen appliances due to heat resistance. PLA is fine for amplifiers and low-heat electronics.
  • Wall Thickness: Use at least 3-4 walls for a sturdy feel.
