Description

Large Dog Screen Door Flap (Modular Build Plate Design)

Give your dog the freedom to move between your patio and yard without constantly opening the screen door. This large-format screen door flap is designed specifically for fly/screen patio enclosures and is sturdy enough for larger dogs while still being printable on standard-sized 3D printer build plates.

The design uses modular frame sections that glue together after printing, making it compatible with printers like the Bambu Lab P series. I’ve also included a separate 3MF containing the four frame components as single-piece parts (Front inner frame, Back inner frame, Front outer frame, Back outer frame)

Details:

  • Outer perimeter: 17" x 14" (430mm x 360mm)
  • Suitable for large dogs
  • Frame width: 10mm (inner + outer frame)
  • Total assembled thickness/depth: 10mm
  • Hardware: #6 x 1/2" screws (14 per frame, 28 total)

Assembly Instructions

  1. Place an outer frame piece onto the screen
  2. Trace the inner opening
  3. Cut out the traced opening
  4. Screw the inner frame together with the mesh sandwiched between the parts
  5. Trim away any remaining mesh
  6. Screw the outer frame onto the screen opening
  7. Install the inner frame/flap afterward by gently flexing the outer frame and snapping it into place

This is my first functional model, I will try to create this as a parametric design for future iterations.
