Don't throw your filament spool away! 👀♻️

After several prints, empty spools are left over... so I decided to give them new life!

I created this modular keychain display, reusing a filament spool as the main base. The result is a functional, economical, and perfect stand for organizing or creatively displaying keychains.

In addition to reducing waste, the project can be customized in size, color, and number of supports.

If you also like to turn “trash” into something useful, this project is for you! 🚀

Steps to assemble

1 - Find an empty filament spool and separate them (optional).

2 - The internal hole measurement of the one I used is 55mm.

My part was made with 54.7 mm.

In the slicer, you need to adjust this measurement according to the spool you will use, leaving a little less tolerance.

But do not alter it on a global scale because of the internal negative area.

Where the support below will go.👇🏻

3 - This internal negative area. Cannot be changed. Because of the measurement of the central rod that holds the rotating support.

This negative is 33mm.

And the piece that fits into it is 32.6mm as shown in the image below. 👇🏻

4 - After making this part, just fit it inside the filament spool, and insert the rod normally, as shown in the images below. 👇🏻

And finally, it will be ready. Just add your keychains, and be happy.

Total height 270mm

Total width 200mm (Same width as the spool)
