Centauri Carbon 2 Hotend Cover

 1)   Added lightweight rear bumper to further reduce weight on the toolhead for those intrested: 

- original back cover: 21,85 gr

- bumper: 3,70 gr

This leads to a weight reduction of approximately 46 grams compared to the original cover, including the front section.

 2)   Upon request, I added a version designed to accommodate either 6 × 2 mm and 6 × 3 mm magnets. Please note that I have not tested them, but I don't believe larger magnets would interfere with the proper operation of the sensors. (file name: VARIANT - CC2 COVER HOTEND - 6x3 magnet)

My take on a lightweight and rigid toolhead cover for the Centauri Carbon 2

It can be integrated with one of the rear bumpers already available online to further reduce the weight.

Features

• Lightweight design (the part shown in the photos is printed in ASA). It can be integrated with one of the rear bumpers already available online to further reduce the weight.
• Better internal airflow to avoid clogs
• Access hole for quick extruder preload adjustment
• Secure mounting with no vibrations or accidental detachment
• Reuses the stock fan and original mounting hardware

I’m personally not a big fan of magnetic-retained covers. Quick hotend/nozzle swaps are nice, but realistically, how often do you actually need to remove the cover?

Printing Recommendations

Print in  ASA or any material with equal or higher heat resistance

Print Orientation

The model is designed to be printed at an angle (see included 3MF file) in order to:

• minimize support material
• improve overall rigidity

An additional removable support has been added to the front section to better support the overhang in that area.

Hardware Required

• 1× magnet — 3 mm diameter × 1 mm height
