World Cup ICE MOLD|ICE maker

This is a simple ice mold shaped like the World Cup trophy. I hope it brings you a better experience when you enjoy drinks with friends during this exciting World Cup summer. 

The finished ice piece is about 7 cm long, and you can scale the model as needed.

For safety and easier demolding, a food-grade soft silicone mold is the best choice. However, making one can be quite difficult, so this PETG or PLA model can also be used as a temporary option.

The mold is divided into two parts: a lower half and an upper half. A 0.35 mm clearance is reserved at the joint between the two parts, so they can be assembled and removed smoothly. 

I used a Bambu Lab A1 printer with medium print accuracy. Depending on your own printer, you may need to adjust this clearance by about 0.1 mm to 0.2 mm. If you resize the model, do not forgot that adjust this gap accordingly to about 0.35mm again to achieve the best result.

How to use:

1. Pour water into the lower half of the mold.

   

2. Place the upper half on top.

3. Thread a string through the hole. Later, when removing the mold, you will use the string to pull the upper half upward.

   

4. To prevent the expanding ice from pushing the upper half upward while freezing, it is best to secure the mold with a rubber band or tie it with string. You may also try skipping this step.

   

5. Freeze the mold. After freezing, the ice will stick to the mold. Let it thaw at room temperature for 5–10 minutes until the ice separates from the mold surface. You can also use warm water to speed this up. Then pull out the upper half using the string. Be careful to avoid damaging the ice.
