Description
š Universal Sonoff & Tuya Smart Plug Box (Simon S10)
Take your home automation projects to the next level with this compact, elegant, and safe design! š
For those of us who love smart homes, the Sonoff Basic, Tuya, and other generic smart relay modules are the cheapest and most versatile options on the market. However, they usually end up dangling from messy wires or poorly hidden behind furniture.
I designed this custom enclosure to house these smart switches and cleanly transform them into a standard floor or surface-mounted plug. The design perfectly integrates the physical button (switch) so you can turn it on manually from the outside, and it features a light guide to easily see the internal status LED.
Ā
š§ Universal Compatibility
Although designed around a Sonoff Basic, this box is compatible with 90% of the budget "DIY Smart Switches" found on AliExpress, Temu, or Amazon, including:
- Tuya / Smart Life Brands: Aubess, Moes, Zemismart, etc. (they share the exact same PCB layout and screw mounting points).
- Sonoff RF Versions: The version with a remote control receiver shares the exact same board dimensions.
Ā
š Specifications & Requirements
- Socket Mechanism: Specifically designed for the Simon Serie 10 flush-mounted socket (European Schuko Standard). Note: If you are downloading this from outside Europe, please double-check the internal dimensions in case you want to adapt your local socket mechanism.
- Hardware: The entire assembly uses M3 screws. I highly recommend socket head Allen screws for a cleaner, more industrial look, but feel free to use whatever you prefer!
- Easy Customization in the Slicer (Bambu Studio): I have included two print plates in the 3F file/profile. One is blank, and the other includes a text placeholder. Remember, you can easily add or modify text right inside your slicer to identify what appliance each box controls.

š”ļø Enhanced Safety (Ground Wire Support)
Unlike stock Sonoff Basic modules that isolate the ground wire, this design allows you to easily bridge and connect the ground wire directly to the Simon socket. This drastically increases the safety of your setup and the electronics you plug into it.
š ļø Step-by-Step Assembly Instructions
- Disassemble the Wi-Fi Switch: Remove the original plastic shell from your Sonoff or Tuya module. The PCB pops out effortlessly.

Route the Main Cable: Feed your main power cord through the opening in the printed base. You can use an M3 screw in the built-in cable clamp on the base to secure the main wire. This prevents accidental tugs from pulling the internal connections loose. Connect the wires, paying close attention to the INPUT (Mains power in) and OUTPUT (Power out to the socket) on the PCB. Use this step to route the ground wire directly to the Simon mechanism.

- Insert the Button: Don't forget to slide the printed button adapter into its slot before closing up.
Close and Enjoy: Fit the Simon socket into place, put the printed cover on, and secure it with your M3 screws. Ready to plug in!
