Modular Quick-Change Holder for the Katana TS2 Pro 🚲🛠️

I originally wanted to permanently mount my Katana TS2 Pro truing stand on the workbench in my shed.
But after some long wheel-building sessions, it quickly became clear:

Spending hours truing spokes in the cold is much less fun than working in a warm living room. 😅

So the idea for a modular quick-change system emerged:
stable enough for precise truing, but mobile at the same time.

The Solution

I designed and printed two guide rails that are securely bolted to the workbench.
The truing stand is simply slid in from the side, making it stable, reproducible, and almost play-free.

When temperatures in the shed head towards the „North Pole“ again:
→ Pull out the truing stand and continue working comfortably in the warm. 🔥☕

Technical Specifications

  • Total length per rail: 250 mm
  • Total width: 40 mm
  • Guide channel:
    • 20 mm wide
    • extending over the entire length
  • Clamping dimension/Cut-out:
    • 4 mm
    • suitable for the truing stand's base plate
  • Mounting:
    • per rail 3 screws
    • securely bolted to the workbench
  • Design:
    • form-fitting side guide
    • laterally retractable quick-change system

Thanks to the long guide over the full 25 cm, the stand sits astonishingly stable and torsion-free on the table.

Why the system works so well

The forces are not only absorbed pointwise by screws, but distributed over the entire length of the guide.
This creates a very solid impression, even though the system remains quickly detachable.

The combination of:

  • long guide,
  • narrow 4-mm clamping,
  • and the wide contact surface

makes the setup significantly more precise than one would expect from a „simply printed solution“.

Sometimes the best workshop solutions arise simply from pure comfort considerations. 😄

„I don't want to freeze while truing“ ultimately resulted in a modular quick-change holder that makes the truing stand mobile in seconds — and almost acts like a professional workbench system.

nevertheless, the 3 screws per rail should not be tightened excessively to ensure gliding is still possible.
