Description
Miyota 9075 movement adapter for Seiko SKX case modding.
Please note, the case being used must have a removeable chapter ring for this mod to work. The 9075 stem sits in a different position. Also note, a domed or double-domed crystal must be used, and the seconds hand needs to be modified with a slight curve. The hand-stack on the Miyota is tall, and the entire movement is shifted towards the crystal.
To install the adapter, have the movement sitting dial-up. Align the stem gap with the stem opening. There are two protrusions on the inner diameter of the adapter that line up with two indentations on the movement. Gently press the adapter into place. Note that the steel dial spacer provided by Miyota is not used.
The adapter will accommodate Miyota dials, and Seiko dials with some modification. The Seiko dial-feet will need to be filed to a semi-circular cross section, or trim them off and use dial dots. Miyota and Seiko use slightly different date window locations. Depending on dial color and date wheel color, this may not be visible.
Proper hand setting is CRITICAL. Miyota uses a tall hand-stack, and interference with the crystal will stop the movement if this is not done properly. It may also be necessary to curve the seconds hand slightly, and GENTLY prior to installation. A domed crystal should clear, but you may need a double-domed crystal.
Remove the crystal, and swap out the chapter ring. Alternatively, you could retain the original chapter ring, and sand the backside approximately 0.6mm. At this time, sanding down the chapter ring has not been confirmed to work. Proceed with caution, and at your own risk. With the new/modified chapter ring installed, insert the crystal, then case the movement, ensuring that the hands are clear of any obstruction. Confirm functionality, and proceed with normal assembly.
Print using 0.2mm nozzle and ABS (or comparable material) for strength and temperature stability.
Added a sanding fixture that allows existing chapter ring to be removed and modified. Currently accounts for 3 different diamter rings. If you come across a size not included, please let me know.
