Description

This additional activated carbon filter is designed for the Winix 5500-2 air purifier and mounts behind the HEPA filter.

The reusable housing allows you to add a second activated carbon stage in addition to the original pre-HEPA carbon filter. This setup is especially useful for improving VOC filtration, for example in 3D printing environments.

Due to its size, the model is designed for large-format printers such as the Bambu Lab H2S / H2D / H2C.

The system consists of:

  • 2 filter housing parts
  • sliding lids
  • spacers for optimal positioning and airflow

The spacers ensure the filter stays perfectly aligned while maintaining proper airflow through the purifier.

🔧 Features

  • Additional activated carbon stage for Winix 5500-2
  • Mounts behind the HEPA filter
  • Refillable / reusable design
  • Optimized for VOC filtration
  • Ideal for 3D printing environments
  • Large honeycomb structure for airflow and carbon distribution
  • Sliding lids with screw fixation
  • Modular multi-part design for large-format printing

🧩 Design Notes

  • The fine filter mesh is generated by the slicer
  • Large internal honeycomb structures improve:
    • airflow
    • activated carbon distribution
    • structural rigidity
  • Lids slide carefully into place
  • M3 heat-set inserts and screws are required
  • The two spacer parts can optionally be glued together if desired
  • Do not completely fill the filter with activated carbon pellets — sufficient airflow must remain for proper air circulation and purifier performance
  • Use acid-free activated carbon pellets intended for air filtration applications

🔩 Required Hardware

  • M3 heat-set inserts
  • M3 screws

🛠️ Assembly Note

To install the lid, slightly bend it and insert it from the top while it is almost fully closed. Then carefully slide the remaining small gap into place.

Do not try to slide the entire lid in from one side, as this may damage or break the guide groove.

  • Bambu Lab H2C

Smaller printers may not fit all parts on the build plate.

🌬️ Notes

  • Activated carbon is not included.
  • Designed for pellet-style activated carbon filling.
  • Use acid-free activated carbon pellets suitable for air filtration.
  • Do not overfill the housing to maintain proper airflow.
  • Airflow performance may vary depending on carbon type and fill level.
  • Regular replacement or regeneration of activated carbon is recommended.
