Illuminated Decorative Frame for Translucent Inserts

Light Frame Gallery is a modular 3D-printable decorative frame designed to hold translucent or clear printed inserts and create a soft stained-glass style glow.

The model is built around a clean arched frame that can be printed in Bambu PLA Matte Charcoal and paired with a clear or translucent insert printed in Bambu PETG Translucent Clear. Each part is printed as a separate object, not by layer color changes, making it easier to print, customize, and swap designs.

The frame includes a dedicated space for a small light source, allowing the translucent insert to glow beautifully from behind or below. It can be used as a decorative tabletop piece, spiritual decor, holiday decor, memorial piece, home gallery object, or ambient light frame.

This project is designed as a growing collection. More insert styles and themes may be added later.

Light Source Options

The model is designed to fit a small light source inside the frame area.

Possible options:

• Bambu Y Shape LED Light with Magnetic Control Switch
• Small battery LED modules, i used this form Aliexpress
• Compact warm white LED strips or puck-style light modules

Please check the size of your light source before printing.
The light is not included with the printed model.

Bambu PLA Matte Charcoal

This gives the frame a clean, premium, dark gallery-style look.

Insert / Back Plate

Bambu PETG Translucent Clear

Bambu’s clear translucent PETG is listed as PETG Translucent Clear / Bambu PETG Translucent. It is suitable for light-diffusing decorative parts and has good light transmission.

Suggested Print Settings

Frame

• Material: PLA Matte / PLA Basic / PETG
• Layer height: 0.16–0.20 mm
• Infill: 15–20%
• Walls: 3
• Supports: Usually not required
• Build plate: Textured PEI / Smooth PEI

Translucent Insert

• Material: Bambu PETG Translucent Clear
• Layer height: 0.16–0.20 mm
• Infill: 100% or high infill for a solid glass effect
• Walls: 2–3
• Top / bottom layers: depending on desired transparency
• Print slowly for cleaner translucent results

For better transparency, Bambu’s transparent PETG guide recommends tuning settings specifically for transparent or translucent PLA/PETG prints.

Assembly

1. Print the frame.
2. Print the translucent insert / stained-glass panel.
3. Place the insert inside the frame.
4. Add your preferred small LED light source.
5. Use warm white light for the best stained-glass effect.
6. Display it on a shelf, desk, side table, or home decor setup.

Note - Recommended material for the insert: PETG Translucent / Clear PETG.
Not recommended: Transparent PLA
