This profile is tuned to capture ultra-fine details (like overlapping feathers) on miniature figurines while solving the two biggest issues with Silk filaments: loss of metallic shine and aggressive stringing. It also includes an optimized configuration for standard Matte PLA.&nbsp;I used eSUN PLA Silk Gold, hence the profile and settings are specifically based on eSUN filament. Key optimizations over the standard filament and process files that you may download from eSUN&#39;s website are:<ul><li>Uniform High-Gloss Finish <ul><li>What was changed: both Inner and Outer wall speeds to a 40 mm/s and nozzle temperature to 220C (rather than standard 210C). Silk filaments may change their reflectivity based on printing speed and temperature. I decided to use a unified, slower speed ensures a flawless, premium metallic luster across the rear/feather part of the owl.</li></ul></li><li>Minimal-Stringing on Fine Detailing <ul><li>What was changed: Increased retraction to 0.8 mm, extended the wipe distance to 4 mm, but reduce the travel speed to 350 mm/s. I have tried higher travel speed like the default speed, it resulted severe wispy strings across tight spaces (like the 2-3mm gaps between individual feathers and its body). I havled the travel speed (from 700 mm/s to 350mm/s) and have noticed a major improvement to reduce the amount of local stringing. </li></ul></li><li>Easy-Peel (and Flawless) Supports<ul><li>What was changed: Set Tree Organic supports with a 0.40 mm Top/Bottom Z-distance and Concentric interface pattern. I found that Silk filament expands as it leaves the nozzle and easily fuses to supports. Forcing a strict 2-layer air gap likely ensures that the gradual slopes of the wings are perfectly supported without melting into the structure.</li></ul></li></ul>While original settings from the auther is already excellent, I also tried to optimize owl&#39;s front body and eyes (Plate 3) as I was looking for a Easy-Peel Supports and Clean Edges. So I configured a 0.32 mm Z-distance combined with a Hollow Tree support base pattern, which turns out well.
