XXL Block Box
W8 / H4 - double length!
in 2 styles and 2 variants each
I needed a slightly larger box as gift packaging, one that could hold a good amount. Thus, this block box was created with a depth of 8 standard blocks and a height of 4 standard blocks. There is also a connecting piece so that 2 blocks can be placed one after another in each row, making the box correspondingly wider. Alternatively, blocks with a length of 25-30 cm can also be used directly.
The finished box is approx 22 cm deep, 32 cm long, and 12 cm high (see photos).
The file contains different variants for the side walls:
V1 - straight edges, clean look
Plate 1 with closed outer side (nice side on the plate)
Plate 4 with continuous cutouts (easier to assemble, but harder to glue)
V2 - curved top edge, playful look
Plate 2 with closed outer side (nice side on the plate)
Plate 5 with continuous cutouts (easier to assemble, but harder to glue)
Plate 3 - connecting piece
rests at the butt joints of the meeting blocks - gluing the blocks is highly recommended!
Not needed when using blocks with a length of 25 - 30 cm!

For the box to be able to carry weight corresponding to its size, it is important that the blocks fit snugly in the cutouts and/or are additionally glued. For this reason, the file includes a scaling test print, as I found during my test prints that depending on the filament and blocks used, they fit either tighter or looser in the cutouts. I strongly recommend printing this test beforehand! This allows you to test with your existing blocks whether the file should possibly be scaled slightly larger or smaller so that the blocks have a firm hold in the cutouts. With a good fit, the box carries up to 7 kg without problems (tested)! The original size of the cutouts, i.e 100%, is 8.1 x 23.1 mm.
Note: For me, Bambu PLA Matte at 98% fit similarly to Jayo PLA Wood at 102%. So the test print definitely makes sense!
Assembly tip:
To make the blocks slide into the cutouts more easily, lightly chamfer their end faces
