Xoloitzcuintle Bust

This Xoloitzcuintle bust captures the refined lines and dignified presence of one of the world’s oldest and most distinctive breeds. Rendered in a poised three-quarter profile, the sculpture emphasizes the breed’s clean contours and noble expression.

The elongated head is carefully proportioned, with a smooth, tapered muzzle and subtle stop flowing seamlessly into the skull. Almond-shaped eyes are set with a calm, observant expression, reinforcing the breed’s reputation for intelligence and quiet loyalty.

The defining feature—the large, upright ears—are sculpted with crisp structural clarity. Their height and natural flare create a striking silhouette, adding vertical balance and elegance to the overall composition. The inner ear detailing remains subtle, maintaining realism without overpowering the minimalist aesthetic.

True to the hairless variety, the surface of the head and neck is smooth and uninterrupted, allowing form to take precedence over texture. Gentle anatomical definition along the cheekbones, jawline, and throat highlights the breed’s lean musculature. Lightly sculpted folds along the neck introduce natural realism while preserving the breed’s streamlined appearance.

The bronze-effect finish enhances these sculptural planes. Darkened patina settles into recessed areas beneath the jaw and between neck contours, while elevated surfaces catch warm metallic highlights. This interplay of shadow and sheen accentuates the purity of line and refined structure.

The stepped circular plinth, finished with a cracked stone motif, anchors the composition with visual solidity. Its textured surface contrasts effectively with the smooth anatomical modelling above, creating balance between strength and elegance.
