Description
Designed a custom front tow strap mount for a Mini Cooper after discovering that the OEM Mini tow strap costs around $150.
The biggest challenge was recreating the unusual factory towing hook thread, which uses a rather uncommon M16x3 specification. After careful measuring, modeling, and test fitting, I successfully engineered a fully printable solution compatible with the original mounting point.
The part was designed specifically for FDM 3D printing and optimized through multiple iterations to ensure proper thread engagement and fitment.
Important: This part is intended purely as a cosmetic accessory. It must never be used for actual vehicle towing or recovery purposes. Using this printed component to tow a vehicle could result in failure of the part, potentially causing serious damage to the vehicle, equipment, or personal injury.
