Description

Welcome to my Ludus, I am Lucius Gabrius and let me introduce you to one of our gladiators: The Retiarius.

Don't be fooled by his lack of a helmet or shield, Editor. This man is the most cunning fighter in my stable. He represents the fisherman of the sea, armed with a weighted net (rete) to ensnare his foes and a sharp trident (fuscina) to finish them from a distance.

His only heavy protection is the galerus, that high bronze guard on his left shoulder, designed to shield his neck and head as he maneuvers. He is the ultimate agile combatant, forced to keep his distance and strike only when the moment is perfect. Watching a Retiarius trap a Secutor is a lesson in patience and deadly precision. If you want a match that keeps the audience guessing until the very last second, he is your man.

Don't trust my pictures, and try for yourself. I never sand mines after printing, and usually just use acrylic paints without priming it first, and print using probably a thicker layer than what I should because… I'm impatient LOL anyway, they look better in real life than in my pictures!
