I Live In A Van Down By The River – Inspired Character Figure

If you grew up quoting classic 90s comedy sketches, this one probably needs no introduction.

This over-the-top motivational speaker inspired figure brings serious “living in a van down by the river” energy straight to your printer. From the oversized glasses and jacket to the dramatic stance, this model was designed to capture that chaotic motivational-speaker vibe we all remember.

Design Process

This model started as a concept generated in Meshy AI and was then cleaned up, refined, and painted in Bambu Studio to make it more printable and easier to color separate for multi-color printing.

Printing Options

  • Full multi-color version for advanced AMS setups
  • Requires multiple AMS units or manual filament swaps during printing
  • Great candidate for a paint-friendly print if you prefer a simpler setup
  • Bold features and separated color regions make hand painting surprisingly easy

Recommended Printing Notes

  • Adaptive layer height recommended for smoother curves and facial details
  • PLA works great
  • Slower outer wall speeds help clean up the glasses and tie details
  • Painting version works especially well with acrylic paint markers

Note the print time shown was on an H2D with 2 AMS (3 colors per nozzle).

Suggested Color Layout

  • Light blue jacket
  • White shirt
  • Green tie
  • Brown pants
  • Black shoes/glasses
  • Flesh-tone face and hands
  • Blonde / brown hair (I used the same color for the pants and hair)

Whether you print it fully multi-color or go the paint route, this one makes a perfect desk figure, shelf display, or conversation starter for anyone who appreciates legendary sketch-comedy nostalgia.

And remember…
You’ll have plenty of time to print more models when you’re living in a van down by the river.

Thank you! This one will be tricky to split. I have a few I am looking at the best way to split into separate parts so this is definitely on my list.

the discard tower is hitting the tool head cover and knocking it off?

Sorry to hear that. You might try moving the tower to a different location if you are using slicing software.
