Description
Train Fiddle Yard Cassette For Non Powered Rolling Stock - OO/HO Scale
Following on from my previous modular train fiddle yard cassette ( https://makerworld.com/en/models/2408693-train-fiddle-yard-cassette-for-oo-ho-scale-trains?from=search#profileId-2640755 ) I present version two: Train Fiddle Yard Cassette system for non powered rolling stock. This has built in rails which align up with the track when the cassette is slid into the fixed end mount (see photos).
So to recap: I was running out of space for trains on my layout. To increase train storage a well proven method is the use of train fiddle yard cassettes. These train allow trains to be driven in to the cassettes & once loaded with the train is then lifted off the layout & storage until required again.
Fiddle yard cassettes enable assembled train consists to be swapped without the need to physically handle them. It also increases a wider range of different trains being run during a running session.
I've designed this version two like version one, to be printed on the Bambu Lab A1 Mini printer. This train cassette is modular, any number of cassettes can be printed & joined together enabling you to make longer train cassette. The cassette sections are easy to assemble, apply glue to the cassette ends & also inside the joiners. Slide the cassettes into the joiners. With the cassettes glued & fixed into place in the joiners, slide the joiner top bar into the slots on the tops of the joiners. The top bars can be glued if required. Please note if using the end stops, don't glue the joiner top bar on the joiners the end stops are being used. This allows the top bar to slide out the way to insert or remove the end stops.
End stops are included to prevent trains rolling out of the cassette ends. A full height end stop which slots into the end & smaller height stops for use with the dust covers.
I've also designed & include joiners which can be stacked. These sit on the top recess section of the joiners.
The cassettes have rails for OO/HO scale, so no track is needed baring the fixed baseboard mount. The track I'm using as seen in the photos, is Peco OO scale code 100 streamline.
A fixed end section which is mounted on the baseboard, the assembled train cassette slides into fixed mount & loaded/unloaded with the train.
Dust covers to keep yout rolling stock dust free are also included. The dust covers slot into the top section section on each cassette section & are locked into place by the sliding top joiner bars. Additional half length cassette with matching dust cover is also included. This gives you two length cassette options, longer cassette & shorter cassette.
Further information on the assembly can be found in the Assembly instructions section.
Thank you for stopping by to check out my version two train cassette print & I hope it'll be of use to you on your model railway/railroad layouts.
Happy Printing
