Description
Mazda MX-5 Miata Adapter Plate for Toyota 1ZZ COP Coils
A 3D-printed adapter plate that lets you convert the Mazda MX-5 Miata ignition system to modern Coil-on-Plug (COP) coils from the Toyota 1ZZ-FE engine. A well-known, budget-friendly upgrade in the Miata tuning and drift community - get rid of old, failure-prone coils and HT leads for good.
Recommended material: I strongly recommend printing this part in Bambu Lab PAHT-CF (or a comparable high-performance carbon-filled nylon). I've been running mine in PAHT-CF for over a month of daily driving with zero signs of wear, deformation or heat damage - it handles the engine bay environment perfectly.
ABS or ASA can work as a budget alternative, but for long-term reliability under heat and vibration, PAHT-CF (or better) is the way to go. I would not recommend PLA or standard PETG for this application.
Print file: A ready-to-print 3MF file with my tested print settings is included - just slice and print.
Installation: The plate replaces the factory coil/plug cover and seats the 1ZZ COP coils directly above the spark plugs. Wiring harness adaptation is required (1ZZ coil pinout). This model requiers you to use M6 Heat inserts.
⚠️ Disclaimer: The engine bay is a hot, vibrating environment. Material choice matters - please use a suitable high-performance filament. Install and drive at your own risk.
