Description - 80mm Spindle Version
I wanted a Z Independent Dust Boot for my Ultimate Bee CNC but there was not a lot of options when I went looking. I adapted a few options meant for other machines but none of them were what I wanted, so I designed my own.
Please note the following
- This is designed for the 80mm Bulkman Square Mount
- I recommend printing the main bracket and then the Test Dust boot file to check for fitment of your specific machine before you go further. I will try to release updated files as requested for the different offsets that people might have.
- This should work on the Queen Bee CNC as well as it looks to have a similar X axis Mounting plate.
My criteria for my new dust boot:- Low or no loss of X axis travel
- Easy to adjust to the work piece height
- Useable with any of my bits
- Printable on my 3D Printer
So this is what I came up with for my design, I am still refining it and making improvements but thought I would share with the community to get some feedback and ideas from others.
What you will need to make this work:
- 2 x 6mm Aluminum Rod
- 4 x M5x30mm Button Head screws
- 25mm screws might work but you may need washers
- To secure the main bracket to the X axis carriage
- 2 x M3 Heatset inserts
- Install into the main bracket to secure the rod in place to set the dust boot height
- 2 x M3x30mm bolts
- To secure the rod in place to set the dust boot height
- 2 x M3x8mm bolts
- Retaining screws to secure the 6mm rod to the dust boot
- Length of 2.5" or 63.5mm Clear dust tube
- Carry dust from the Dust boot up to the dust hose above your machine
- 24 x 6x4 mm Magnets **I might have used to many :)
I printed all parts using PTEG with 0.4mm nozzle @ 0.2 mm layer height
- 5 walls
- 5 top and bottom layers
- 35% 3D Honeycomb Infill
- Supports shouldn't really be needed on any part other than the main bracket arms
- I used auto Generated Tree Support just be careful around the screw holes for the rod retention screw, its hard to get the supports out of there.
