Description
Models made to start my hobbies of 3d modeling, printing and flying. After several iterations of improvement per part, I thought it'd be nice to share.
The idea was to make a drone small enough to practice inside, with the option to fly decently outside. I chose the 2S battery setup for compatibility with the DJI O4 unit, and to have enough power for the drone.
The build was inspired by the BETAFPV Femto.
Total diameter of the drone (bumper): ~130mm.
Frame wheelbase: 75mm
Assembly consists of:
- Bumper (at bottom): Printed from TPU for toughness. Provides protection for props when flying into stuff.
- Drone frame (2nd from bottom): Printed from PA6-CF. I wanted to test this material, and have never had to replace it yet. I expect PLA or PETG to be fine for the frame. The shape provides a lot of stiffness.
- VTX mounting frame (3rd from bottom): Printed in Transparent PETG. Most materials should be fine here, but due to the bolts screwing into this frame directly, some force may come through. (had to replace once)
- VTX Top+Cam (Top side): Printed from TPU for toughness. Provides protection from flying into stuff and allows to mount and adjust the camera.
For reference this is the complete build:
- Flight controller / receiver: BETAFPV F4 2-3S 20A AIO (ELRS)
- Motors: BETAFPV brushless 1103, 11000KV
- Props: Gemfan 40mm 1635 Durable 3-Blade 1.5mm Propellers
- Video system (VTX): DJI O4 Air Unit (Lite)
- Batteries: BETAFPV LAVA 550mAh
All frame parts are bolted together using m2x12 and m2x16 screws. Motor/cam screws were included.
Additionally I printed some m2 spacers to stack everything together.
Happy flying!
