Modular, Expandable, Vertical Axis Wind Turbine
Print Profile(1)

Description
A helical vertical axis wind turbine that can be built in stages by adding segments gradually. This design is intended for a 35mm diameter pole and requires the following extra hardware per added segment:
6x 11mm steel balls for bearings
3x M3x16 round head screws
3x M3x30 countersunk screws
6x M3 hex nuts
3x M3x14 countersunk screws for expansion pegs
1x M3x50 bolt for bottom stopper
1x M3 lock nut for stopper
A 3mm hole will need to be drilled inside the pole to allow the stopper at the bottom of turbine to be secured to the pole.
0.2mm layer height recommended
While the model can be printed using PLA, it is highly recommended to use ASA since UV from the sun will eventually degrade the material and make the blades disintegrate. PA is recommended for the bearing housing and cage to better handle the abrasion of constant rotation.
