Description

ShiftX: The Ultimate Xbox Sim-Racing Mod!

Step up your racing game with ShiftX, my biggest project yet! This mod transforms your standard Xbox controller into a tactile sequential shifter or a high-leverage handbrake. Just plop your controller in, and you’re ready to hit the track!

How it Works:

ShiftX is engineered to actuate the LB and RB bumpers.

  • Sequential Shifter: Bind RB to "Gear Up" and LB to "Gear Down" in your game settings.
  • Handbrake Mode: Perfect for drifting! In games like Forza, simply bind your E-brake to RB.

Build Specs & Customization:

  • Print Time: Approx. 9 hours for the full assembly.
  • Flexible Printing: The profile includes a "Main Plate" for a single-run print, as well as separate plates for those who prefer smaller batches.
  • Clamp fits desks up to 40mm.

Rod Selection Guide:

Depending on your printer's tolerances, I have provided three rod sizes on the print profile. Looking at the build plate from left to right:

  • LEFT (5.00mm): A loose, easy-clearance fit.
  • MIDDLE (5.05mm): (Recommended) My personal choice. It provides a snug, tight feel while remaining removable.
  • RIGHT (5.10mm): Use this for a permanent, high-friction "press-fit."

Hardware Requirements:

While I have included printable springs, they are mostly for testing. For the best tactile "click" and return speed, I highly recommend using physical metal springs, I use these ones from amazon available here.

  • Specs: 0.7mm wire x 6mm wide x 20mm tall.

Credit & Inspiration:

A huge thank you to eth_331 for giving me the idea for this project! This mod wouldn't have come to life without that initial spark of inspiration.

Printing Notes:

  • If you aren't using the provided Bambu Studio profile, please refer to the profile for the optimal printing orientation to ensure part strength.
  • TPU tipped screws are also available for optimal grip.

Happy Printing!

Boost Me (for free)

Love the ShiftX?
This was my biggest project to date and took a lot of prototyping to get the tolerances just right! If this mod saves you from buying an expensive sim-shifter/handbrake, please consider dropping a Boost! Your support helps me get more filament to design and test even bigger gaming mods for the community. Happy drifting!

Im very sorry, I don't have a GameSir Novalite. I'll see what I can do tho! As for the levers, I could make another one that presses the Right trigger (RT).

great design. been playing with the thought of designing something like this. suggestion: make hooks on the ends or the 2 arches so rubber bands can be used instead of springs for tension. would be great if this could be a ultimate low cost and equipment build

I really like this and will surely print it. But it seems like there's no way to plug the controller in to save batteries, that would be nice. I'd also appreciate a dualsense compatible version if that's possible!

I'm very sorry, I don't have a dual sense controller so I can't make that. And the plug on the controller is kinda blocked but I can try for you! Also, thank you for boosting! It really helps me out!
