Precision Mini Airless Basketball - 80mm Optimized Design

This is not a simple scaled-down model. I have specifically re-engineered the Lattice Structure to ensure optimal printability and structural balance for an 80mm diameter form factor.

Full-scale airless models are often material-intensive and time-consuming. This mini version requires only approximately 45g of TPU (including supports), making it an efficient way to explore airless structures without the high risk of a long print.

Technical Details:

  • Diameter: 80mm
  • Weight: Approx. 45g (Total material usage)
  • Tested Material: Overture TPU 95A
  • Purpose: Ideal for both active physical play and as a geometric display piece.

🎾 Meet the Airless Series! If you like this design, check out the new **Airless Tennis Ball (Soft Lattice)**! Designed to be ultra-lightweight, it requires only 20g of TPU to print. Perfect for casual indoor play.

Some. a firm throw down gets maybe 12 inches of bounce. You would have to use a softer TPU I think for good bounce but my daughter loves it anyway.

top crown comes out great as small ball but enlarge to basketball size it will need supports had to babysit to help crown seal good as basketball without supports. bounce is great tho with peba . have used both these fillaments they bounce great with proper engineered balls. alot of airless basketballs are not engineered good and the bounce isnt great.

Wow, this looks incredible! Thanks for the awesome print and review! **You're totally right, scaling it up makes the big lattice look so cool and aggressive. **I really appreciate you "babysitting" the print to get that top crown sealed perfectly. It’s awesome to hear that it bounces so well with PEBA compared to other models. Your engineering compliment means a lot to me. Thanks again!

hi, what print speed did you use? I am using this on my K1 Max, imported your 3mf and can see that it changed a couple speed settings. Everytime I slice it, it's like...11 hrs. lol. Did not change the size or supports - 0.2 layer, 2 walls, 15% infill. It's the speed settings. My TPU profile has everything fairly slow for obvious reasons.

I did it in PLA basic, It started off working well, bounced high. Though it did break after a little while! Thank you though! I would definitely recommend using TPU.

try adding supports to the overhangs, pla is usually the best support material if you are printing in tpu
