Description

Remix of Dewalt DWS 780 Zero Clearance by markyzek with inspiration from Dewalt 779/780 Zero Clearance Replaceable Inserts by user_2670523776.

  • Added a 18mm wide area down the middle that prints with 100% infill. This allows for less infill around the edges where the blade is not cutting
  • Refined the connection pins for more strength and better fit
  • Added a 5 layer thick accent color on top, which also prints with 100% infill

Fits on a 256mm bed

I liked the look and idea of user_2670523776's design, but it didn't work. The replaceable insert is only held in place at the front and back of the saw, so once cut, the two halves flex from left to right and lift off the rest of the part.

There is nothing wrong with markyzek's design. I just wanted two colors and liked the idea of 100% solid material in the middle of the part. I think it will hold it's shape better over time.

Eventually I'll add replaceable inserts, but I'm still working out a solid way to attach them without mechanical fasteners.

I've only been 3d printing for two weeks, so be sure to check the print profile settings. The tolerance of the connection pins are pretty tight (.1mm - they're not intended to come apart once assembled). Everything looks great and fits perfect as printed on my brand new x2d, but if anyone has any issues let me know.
