Description

Summary

A replacement part for the following Bionicle parts:

- 50898: Technic, Axle and Pin Connector 2 x 7 with 2 Ball Joint Sockets, Rounded Ends

- 61054: Technic, Axle and Pin Connector 2 x 7 with 2 Ball Joint Sockets, Squared Ends, Closed Side Axle Holes

- 89651: Technic, Axle and Pin Connector 2 x 7 with 2 Ball Joint Sockets, Squared Ends, Open Side Axle Holes

Modeled in two halves to print without supports and combat the 'sag' that seems to develop in the through holes in the other single-part models I've tried, without compromising on socket strength. Print with thin wall detection and 0.08mm layers (with adaptive layer heights if you want). Apply a small amount of bonding agent to the mating surfaces and press halves together. Halves are self-locating and designed to snap into place - clamp together for best results. In my testing with standard PLA, sockets start with clamping force at least equal to the authentic part; however, I've observed the joint to loosen after a few days. After gluing, the pin and axle holes seem to fit authentic pins and axles snugly. I will be trying to improve the durability of the socket and prolong its clamping force in future iterations, with refined designs and different materials.

Designed primarily to cure the devastating Lime Disease endemic of 2008 - feedback is much appreciated! I will be working on releasing similar socket parts soon. Let me know what other parts you would like to see!
