Description

Tribute to Banksy's Blind Patriotism

This is a fan-made tribute to Banksy's original artwork. All rights to the original piece belong to Banksy — I don't claim ownership of the artwork itself, only the 3D model files and the pedestal design I created. The figure was generated with AI assistance from reference of the original.

Personal use only. Please don't sell prints, the files, or any derivatives. If you print one, do it for yourself, and credit Banksy as the original artist.

A striking display piece for a shelf, mantel, or desk. The original street art makes a sharp statement, and this version translates it into a print-friendly sculpture you can scale and finish however you like.

Model is split into 5 pieces:

  • Trunk / legs
  • Left arm
  • Right arm
  • Flag / head
  • Pedestal

Flag pole: Rather than printing the pole, I just used a piece of raw filament cut to length — clean, straight, and stronger than a printed pole at this scale.

Scale: I printed all pieces at 150%, but feel free to scale up or down to whatever fits your space.

Supports: All parts require supports except the pedestal. Tree supports work well.

Pedestal weighting (optional): My included print profile has a built-in pause partway through the pedestal print so you can drop weights into the base before resuming. This gives the finished statue a much more solid, premium feel — highly recommended, but optional. Skip the pause if you don't want to bother.

Assembly: All five pieces connect with superglue. Dry-fit first, then glue. Hold each joint for 30 seconds or so.

Recommended print settings:

  • Layer height: 0.16–0.20 mm
  • Infill: 15–20%
  • Filament: PLA or PLA matte (stone gray, bronze silk, or white all look great)

Optional finishing: Light sanding + a coat of acrylic primer takes it from "printed" to "sculpted" — really sells the stone or bronze look.

Enjoy, and tag me if you print one — I love seeing how people finish these.

What do you know... came on here to prepare to print another one of your amazing vintage radios for yet another gift and see this. I've been planning to print the new Banksy and had a few versions bookmarked but the supports looked like a nightmare so I held off. your version is great (though the flag is still rough with support, as should be expected) and made it much easier and safer to print piece by piece. printed and glued together perfectly and looks great! printed in black filament and finished with antique gold rub n buff.

Wow yours came out fantastically! Well done sir! What treatment did you give it, like paint?

Replying to @colonelcufflink :
thanks it's just strictly Rub N' Buff on the black petg with no other finishing. I planned to do a bronze or maybe copper but didn't have that colors so just used the antique gold version and it looks decent for a statue.

This print turned out great. I printed @ 175% size. I used 3mm brass rod for the flag pole as well for connections between the body and the pedestal and the body and the head/flag. I moved the orientation of the holes in the top of the pedestal because it seemed the statue was stepping off the side opposed to the front. I assembled the separate body and arm pieces in my CAD app to print as one file and also added connection holes for the hidden 3mm brass connection rods. I used Polymaker Metalic PLA grey for the base with a slight fuzzy texture, Polymaker Metallic PLA bronze for the body and arms and finally Polymaker Metallic PLA blue for the head/flag. Another great model by Zion and also thanks to Banksy for the inspiration.

I really enjoyed how this turned out! The supports on the flag weren't fun in the silk, but worth it. Thanks for uploading this! Sunlu Silk PLA for the copper and Sunlu PETG base

Great print, used PLA silk for the statue and marble for the base, may add a bit of something to the base to dirty it up at some point but went together well.

It the video you published you asked the question considering somebody (a person) creating the model of an artwork. You modeled your own version of the pedestal, which is fine (I wouldn't put Banksy's name on it though). The sculpture itself was created using an AI-powered tool: this way you're not just stealing from a creative you would (most probably) have to pay to create this replica (aka "heavy sculpting" you mentioned), but also promoted the use of AI in replicating art while collecting MakerPoints. You also forgot to add NC ("non-commercial") to BY-SA for some reason.

Fair points. I've updated the license to non-commercial and added clearer attribution to the description. Appreciate the pushback.

Note that I only printed the base in order to combine it with a more accurate version of the statue. I had issues with the overhangs at the top not printing very well. I ended up splitting the model into two pieces and printed the top upside down and glued them together after printing.

I am curious what model you think is a little more detailed?
