Filament Label System for AMS and Dry Boxes

This is a modular filament label system designed to keep the filament label together with the matching spool across different storage and usage situations.

The idea is simple: when a filament spool is loaded into an AMS, the matching label can be placed in front of the corresponding slot. When the spool is removed and stored in a dry box, the same label can be moved from the AMS label holder to the dry box label holder. If the filament is used up or the label is not currently needed, it can be stored in the Gridfinity filament label storage box.

This makes it easier to see at a glance which filament is loaded, stored, or ready for future use.

Components

Parametric Filament Label

A customizable filament label that can be adapted to your own needs using the MakerWorld Parametric Model Maker or OpenSCAD.

The label can be used to display information such as manufacturer, filament type, and color. It is designed to fit into the matching holders included in this system.

AMS 2 Pro Label Holder

A label holder for the front of the AMS 2 Pro.

The holder can be attached with double-sided tape up to 12 mm wide and provides space for all four filament labels, matching the four AMS slots.

AMS HT Label Holder

A label holder for the front of the AMS HT.

The holder can be attached with double-sided tape up to 12 mm wide and provides space for one filament label.

This holder can also be used individually in other places, for example on a filament dryer or another storage solution.

Vtopmart Cereal Box Label Holder

This holder can be clipped into the slot on the locking tab of the Vtopmart USUK-YH012007 cereal box lid. The slot measures approximately 4 mm x 33 mm.

Gridfinity Filament Label Storage Box

A storage box for filament labels that are not currently in use.

The Gridfinity filament label storage box holds up to 25 labels and is stackable. It is 2 Gridfinity units wide, 3 units long, and 7 units high.

Before You Print

Before printing the labels, set the slicer wall generator to Arachne for optimal text quality!

Best quality is achieved with a 0.2 mm nozzle. A 0.4 mm nozzle is also supported.

For the holders, make sure the mounting surface is clean before attaching them with double-sided tape. Use tape that is no wider than 12 mm for the AMS 2 Pro and AMS HT holders.

Update AMS HT Label Holder v1.1 / AMS 2 Pro Label Holder v1.1 / Vtopmart Cereal Box Label Holder v1.1

The AMS HT Label Holder, AMS 2 Pro Label Holder, and Vtopmart Cereal Box Label Holder have been slightly adjusted to provide more clearance for the labels. Some users reported that the previous holders were too tight. With this update, the labels should snap in and out more easily. The labels themselves and the Gridfinity Filament Label Storage Box were not changed. Existing labels remain compatible. Only the holders were updated.
