Description

Acetone Vapor Smoothing Lift (Jar Insert for ABS and ASA)

This model is a simple and effective lift platform designed for acetone vapor smoothing of ABS and ASA prints inside a standard screw-top jar.

Instead of placing your print directly in liquid or on unstable supports, this insert keeps the model elevated and centered while exposing it evenly to acetone vapor. It helps achieve smoother, more consistent surface finishes without contact marks.

Features:

  • Designed to fit inside common glass jars (e.g. pickle jars)
  • Raises the print above the liquid acetone level
  • Open structure for optimal vapor circulation
  • Stable base to prevent tipping
  • Easy to print, no supports required

Use case:
Place a small amount of acetone at the bottom of the jar, insert the lift, and position your ABS or ASA print on top. Seal the jar and allow the vapor to smooth the surface. The Jar i use is 18 cm high, the opening 8 cm.

⚠️ Safety note:
Acetone is highly flammable and should only be used in a well-ventilated area, away from sparks or open flames. Use at your own risk.

Print settings (recommended):

  • Layer height: 0.2 mm
  • Infill: 15–30%
  • Material: PLA / PETG (not exposed directly to acetone)
  • No supports needed
