The Flue Chute is a functional design created to repurpose an old, out-of-service chimney clean-out door into a dedicated exhaust port for 3D printer fumes. Perfect for makers who have their setup in a basement or workshop with existing masonry, this adapter allows you to vent VOCs and heat directly into a decommissioned flue using standard 100mm (4-inch) flexible tubing.
Designed in Fusion 360 with precision tolerances, the model features a tiered aesthetic that provides structural rigidity while maintaining a clean, modern look against rough masonry.
SAFETY WARNING
This model is strictly for use with chimneys that are PERMANENTLY OUT OF SERVICE.
- NEVER install this in a chimney that is currently connected to a functional fireplace, wood stove, or furnace.
- FIRE HAZARD: Plastic components (PLA, PETG, ABS) will melt or ignite if exposed to the heat of a live chimney.
- Ensure your flue is clear of obstructions and no longer in use before installation.

Printing Recommendations
- Material: PETG or ASA is recommended for better durability and slight heat resistance from printer exhaust, though PLA works for basic venting.
- Walls: 3–4 wall loops for a sturdy airtight seal.

Print Option 1: Optimized & Support-Free (Recommended)
This is the default configuration for the provided print profile. It is tuned to utilize the bridging capabilities of your printer to save time and material.
Orientation: Printed Face-Down (decorative "bumps" against the build plate).
Support Setting: Disabled. The internal angles and 100mm flange ceiling are handled via bridging.
Wall Loops: Increased to 4 to provide extra structural "meat" for the steep overhangs to grip.
Print Option 2: Supported (Manual Selection)
If you prefer the peace of mind of a physical structure under every overhang, you can enable supports, but be aware of the following:
Cleanup Difficulty: Standard tree or grid supports will be extremely difficult to remove from the tight tolerances of the decorative plate grooves.
Requirement: If you choose this path, it is highly recommended to use a Support Interface material (like PETG for a PLA print, or specialized Support-W).
Consequence: Without a dedicated interface material, the supports will be hard to remove I was able to easilly peal off the suppor with a metal drywall knife
