The model is primarily designed for posts where the cap fits according to the internal dimensions of the post profile.
All key dimensions are fully parametric, allowing easy adjustment for different post sizes and manufacturing tolerances.

This model is parametrically designed around the internal dimensions of the post.
If you want the cap to mount over the external dimensions of the post, the width parameter must be adjusted accordingly:
External Mount Formula
Adjusted Width = Post Width + (2 × Wall Thickness) + Tolerance

 

Why tolerance matters
Real-world fence posts are rarely dimensionally perfect.
Wood can swell, shrink, or warp depending on humidity and weather conditions, while metal or plastic profiles may vary from their nominal dimensions.

 

Adding a small clearance tolerance is strongly recommended for proper installation.

Verify fit on the real post
Adjust tolerance if necessary before final printing
