🇬🇧 Description (EN)

This sculpture is a reproduction of the artwork attributed to Banksy, which appeared in London at the end of April 2026 at Waterloo Place, in the historic Westminster district. Installed overnight on April 29 without announcement, it immediately drew attention for how seamlessly it blended into the surrounding classical monuments.

The statue depicts a suited man striding forward while holding a flag. The fabric, blown by the wind, fully covers his face, preventing him from seeing where he is going. Despite this, he continues walking, even stepping beyond the edge of the plinth as if about to fall into the void.

The message is powerful and typical of Banksy’s work. The piece is widely interpreted as a critique of nationalism and blind patriotism: the flag, meant to symbolize identity and pride, becomes an obstacle that removes vision and critical thinking.
Instead of guiding, it blinds. The confident forward motion turns into something dangerous and irrational.

Its location amplifies this meaning. Waterloo Place is surrounded by monuments celebrating British imperial and military history. By inserting this contemporary figure into such a symbolic environment, Banksy creates a direct dialogue between official history and critical modern commentary.

Like many of his works, the installation itself was part of the statement: placed overnight, later confirmed via social media, blending performance, anonymity, and political expression.

For this reproduction, I aimed to stay as faithful as possible to the original proportions, volumes, and overall dynamics, using multiple visual references. The goal was to capture that precise moment of imbalance — a figure moving forward without seeing — while making subtle adjustments to ensure the model remains coherent, stable, and suitable for 3D printing.

AI may be involved in certain stages of the creation process; however, all models are systematically corrected, optimized for 3D printing, and physically printed before being published.

This is the best version of this model! It's beautifully crafted. It's a tricky print. I could not get my PETG support interfaces to work for some reason. So it's tricky removing the supports but the only damage I had was the flag pole, and that would be tricky either way. I didn't have any issues anywhere else once I got rid of my interfaces and used a Default Support. Turned out beautifully though. I added the red hat. I'd be happy to drop that in as a profile if you like? Thanks

This is easily the best model on makerworld right now for this statue. But the flag is too delicate and breaks with support. I am going to try and adjust the support settings to fine tune it. I may just try to use PETG support interface. Maybe i'll scale it up a bit and add walls to make the flag stronger. I am not sure. But this is the only issue that needs fixing.

You could seperate the flag and use xy_contour_compensation to thicken it.

Replying to @GoaMetz :
I figured it out and got a perfect print. it was a mixture of increasing z distance, slowing down the printing and custom painting the support.

why does it take 8 hours to print

The model is 18cm tall and has an adaptive layer. Now you can change the print settings.

Great model that comes out very well. Only thing that didn't hold up for me is the flag pole under the models hand, but this was easily solved by a drop of superglue and a small piece of filament which I stuck to the bottom of the hand.

Flag will break under current settings. I adjusted supports. Reduced speed, increased part cooling and z distance on support. Then and only then did I get a clean print on the flag pole, removed all the supports with ease and the flag pole was strong enough to stay intact.
