Description

I have a bunch of acrylic stands from one of my favorite anime shows. Each of the individual acrylic stands has a pretty large base used to display the standee, but that takes up a lot of shelf space when you want to display them all. Also, wouldn't it be nice to group related characters together?

I used openSCAD to design these two acrylic stand holders that can hold two or three characters together in a simple composition. I think it turned out pretty nice, what do you think?

My original standee holder was made using Blender, but for these I used openSCAD to parametrically build them. You can use those files on Makerworld to make simple modifications to the standees, but if you're an advanced user you can use openSCAD to really change things such as:

  • the length of the standee slot – individually so everything fits the way you want!
  • slot length and width tolerance – this is how snug the standee will fit into the slot.
  • rotation - helps to make an interesting composition!
  • y-offset for the slots
  • slot_depth — how deep the cut goes (affects grip strength)
  • figure_width / figure_depth — the footprint of the stand base, which controls how much space each character gets on the plate
  • And if you know how to play with the code, you can do so much more.

As for materials: I used matte PLA to print mine.

If you find these useful, I'd love to see what acrylic stands you're displaying and what compositions you come up with. And if you have feedback, I'd love to hear it and improve the openSCAD files.
