Description

This is a redesigned and upgraded version of the classic OTTO DIY walking robot, built with modern components and improved usability in mind.

I’ve remixed the original concept to make it more powerful, flexible, and easier to use — especially for makers who want wireless control, better power management, and compatibility with multiple development boards.

🚀 Key Improvements

  • 🔋 18650 Battery Powered
    • Integrated rechargeable 18650 lithium battery
    • Longer runtime compared to AAA batteries
  • USB Type-C Charging Module
    • Convenient and modern charging solution LX-LISC Charger
    • No need to remove the battery for charging
  • 🧠 ESP32 Upgrade
    • Uses Keyestudio ESP32 PLUS (WROOM-32)
    • Built-in WiFi + Bluetooth
    • Enables wireless control, IoT features, and app integration
  • 🔄 Multi-Board Compatibility
    • Supports:
      • ESP32 (primary design)
      • Arduino Nano (original style)
      • Arduino Uno (expanded body version)
  • 📦 Redesigned Body
    • Increased internal space for larger components
    • Better cable management
    • Cleaner assembly

🧑💻 Why This Remix?

The original OTTO DIY is great for learning robotics, but I wanted to:

  • Remove dependency on disposable batteries
  • Add wireless capability
  • Make the design more future-proof
  • Support multiple controller options

This version is more practical for everyday use and experimentation.

📌 Notes

  • Make sure to use a protected 18650 battery or proper charging module
  • Some minor soldering may be required
  • Code can be adapted from standard OTTO libraries or ESP32-based frameworks
