Description
Ready to level up your desk setup? The Spiral Ball Fidget is a satisfying, interlocking kinetic toy that’s as much an art piece as it is a stress reliever. I designed this specifically to fix the "fitment headache" common with other spiral models, giving you a print that actually stays together and isn't too loose or too tight.
What’s New in This Version?
I’ve moved past the "one size fits all" approach. This model features:
- Choose Your Size:
- 40mm: Pocket-sized. Perfect for EDC (Every Day Carry) and stealth fidgeting.
- 60mm: The standard. Fits most hands comfortably.
- 80mm: The "Goldilocks" size. Great for two-handed use and looks awesome as a display piece.
- 100mm: The Desktop Giant. A serious conversation starter and a fun challenge for your printer.
- No Support Needed: The geometry is optimized to print clean without wasting filament on supports.
Quick Print Guide
- Filament: Silk PLA is the goat for this model—it makes the spiral shadows pop.
- Layer Height: Stick to 0.2mm or lower. The curves need that extra detail to feel smooth in your hand.
- Walls: Run at 2-3 perimeters. The higher the perimeter count, more durable the "links" are.
- Infill: The to get a different sound from your fidget, you can change the infill density. When the infill is very low (0-5%), the fidget will sound high pitched and loud. If the infill is denser, the fidget will have a more mellow tone. (there is less difference in tone with the smaller sizes)
- Pro Tip: If your first layer is a bit squished (elephant’s foot), turn up the "Elephants Foot Compensation" in your slicer by 0.5-1mm (the links will stick pretty badly if there is an elephants foot).
Show it off! There are a million color combos possible here—print the spirals in alternating colors or go for a full rainbow. If you print one, post your profile! I’m still tweaking the files based on your feedback, so let me know how the fit feels on your printer. (Likes are appreciated)
Update 13/4/26:
I have begun experimenting with a different link shape. This shape is more space efficient so now I can get more links into a fidget ball. So far, I have only tested a 50mm fidget with 18 links. I have also been working on an Extra Large, 150mm size fidget.
Update 27/4/26
I finished testing the Extra Large, 150mm size fidget. The 50mm fidget with 18 links is still in development. The new link shape is more space efficient so I can fit more links into a smaller shape. I am working on different sizes with the updated links.
