I designed and 3D printed a self-adjusting car phone holder. The system works with the phone's own weight, which, by pressing on the support below, causes the two side flaps to close, gripping the phone and holding it in place.

The holder is equipped with a clip specifically designed for a 2019 FORD FOCUS. I cannot guarantee it for other cars as the project was created for this specific vehicle.

The phone holder ensures horizontal movement of the phone to allow for personalized positioning.

The attachment of the holder itself to the clip is designed to use a 50mm long M6 screw. Optionally, the screw itself was also designed in the project, and to use it, it is recommended to re-tap the female thread with a 6mm tap.

Glue will also be needed to secure the part that connects the screw to the clip on the joint.

The assembly of the complete holder does not require special instructions. Note that the two halves will be closed with interlocking pins, and for greater solidity, I always recommend using glue.

For positioning the side flaps, the holder must be kept in a position where it is either completely open or completely closed to allow it to work along the entire rack's travel. If the positioning is incorrect and the final closure is made, the holder would not work correctly, either not closing completely or not opening completely.

It is important to remember to position the parts in the correct orientation to correctly insert and screw in the screw.

The holder has a provision to use a return spring that allows the holder to automatically return to position when the phone is released. The spring is not strictly necessary (not included in the project; for those who wish, it is recommended to use a suitably modified click pen spring). The phone is released by simply pushing the holder upwards.

The material used for the project is transparent PETG. This material was chosen (regardless of color) due to high exposure to sunlight, which could alter the mechanical properties if an unsuitable material were used.

I hope the project is useful and appreciated by the community. Happy printing.
