Historic Athens Archway (Landmark Model)
This is a completely original, from-scratch design of the famous ironwork archway located in Athens, GA. I wanted to capture the intricate lattice work and the classic columns in a single, solid model that serves as a great display piece.
Print Notes & Detail
- Support Strategy: To protect the fine ironwork detail at the top, I printed this using "Supports from Build Plate Only." This keeps the lattice clean while providing the necessary stability for the crossbeams. I highly recommend using Tree (Slim) supports and taking your time during the removal process to ensure none of the intricate details are damaged.
- Material: The model in the photo was printed in a classic black to mimic the original ironwork, but a marble or stone-effect filament for the base area also looks great.
