BMW in their infinite wisdom doesn't include any kind of template for installing badges on their cars, just some written instructions and measurements on the TIS that are a nightmare to layout accurately on the car. I wasn't going to do that for my car, so I quickly whipped up this printable fitting template/jig that follow's BMW's measurements for installing the badge. Just align the top right corner of the horizontal bar to the right hand edge of your rear hatch, and the pointer to the start of the crease in the rear hatch, and make sure the bottom edge of the bar is flat and level with your favourite method (my recommendations would be use a laser level or tape a piece of string across the rear hatch using the taillights as your guide) and then slide the holes in the carrier film onto the studs of the template and push on the badge components to stick it onto the rear hatch. You could also use it for reinstalling the loose badge numbers after removing them, you'll just have to measure the gaps between the numbers and set them according to the TIS. Or eyeball it, I'm not your dad. Obviously I've only tested this for the 130i badge, but it should also work for other E81 and E87 model badges, unless BMW radically changed the spacing of the holes in the carrier film for different models, I've included the STEP file should you find yourself needing to change the spacing.
