Penta Click - the Remix

Assembly video now available on my Instagram, I'm leaving the link to the reel directly!!

This is my version of the Pentaclick, based on the original model but with several modifications aimed at improving the design to my liking.

I have redesigned all the parts: the lid now allows the full pentagon to be seen and hides the clasps; the faces have a more rounded finish; and the rubber band holder has been adjusted, slightly widening the gap for the rubber band and reducing the support area, with the aim of reducing friction and preventing the rubber bands from wearing out excessively.

Due to these modifications, the model cannot be printed assembled, and each piece must be printed separately. Although this may seem like a small inconvenience, it also offers the advantage of being able to customize the colors of each piece and combine them as desired.

Furthermore, this design prevents the mechanism from remaining in a “flattened” position after clicking. This is intentionally designed this way, although it can be considered a change from the behavior of the original model.

For its operation, an elastic band is required. I recommend using small hair ties or the typical ones for making bracelets; the thinner they are, the better the result and the longer they will last, as thicker bands tend to wear out sooner. (also, according to some comments, orthodontic bands work)

Assembly is done piece by piece following the sequence below:

The first step can be the most complicated: fitting the rubber band holder with the faces. You can help yourself by resting the piece on a table and pressing the side against the holder to facilitate the fit. This usually happens because the part may print slightly larger due to small variations in the behavior of the material used. In my tests, I achieved the best tolerances using PLA Matte from Bambu Lab.

Make sure to place the rubber band holders in the correct direction as in the image with the slot facing the outer side.

If you've made it this far, don't forget to visit the original model and leave some support! And I encourage you to print it too and compare, it's great that someone leaves designs like these for free!!

UPDATE!

If you think assembling it is tedious, the creator of the original Penta Click model has just uploaded a version 2 which is very similar to this one and already comes half assembled!!

Thank you so much to everyone who downloads, and it would make my day if you uploaded your make. Your support means the world to me! If you love what I do, remember to like and rate de model. You can also follow me to find out about my next models, and also find me on Instagram to closely follow my personal projects and 3D printing.

✨Enjoy this model✨
