MagDial is a compact, magnet‑indexed dial designed for precise rotation with a clean, instrument‑like click. The top and bottom parts are centrally guided, the lower part includes a collar for stable rotation, and the magnetic layout allows multiple feel profiles depending on how you configure the magnets.

QuickPrint Edition (PLA Basic)

• Prints in under 45 minutes
• Low material usage (≈13 g)
• Clean, functional look
• Ideal for testing different magnet setups

Signature Edition

• Contrast‑color first layer
• Contrast‑color top layer
• Same geometry, upgraded aesthetics

🧲 Magnet Compatibility

MagDial supports the following magnet sizes:

• 4×2 mm
• 5×2 mm
• 5×3 mm
• 6×2 mm
• 6×3 mm
• 8×2 mm
• 8×3 mm

Strength Recommendation

• N52 is too strong → overly aggressive snap
• N45 or N42  is ideal → clean, controlled steps

Assembly Notes

• No glue required
• Magnets are press‑fit
• Top and bottom magnets must be installed with opposite polarity → otherwise no defined stepping

• Best practice: install magnets gradually, not all at once → lets you tune the feel precisely

   

🛠️ Update – Improved Magnet Fit (v1.1)

• The magnet tolerances have been updated. The original 6 mm pockets were too tight on most printers, so the diameter has been increased by +0.15 mm for a reliable press‑fit without glue.

   

⭐ Recommended Configuration (Best Feel)

3 magnets on top + 3 magnets on the bottom

This creates different engagement states depending on rotation angle:

• sometimes 1 magnet in engagement
• sometimes 2 magnets
• sometimes 3 magnets

This produces a dynamic, expressive, instrument‑like feel.
