Francesco II (Francis of Assisi Mary Leopold of Bourbon-Two Sicilies) – Bust

This bust depicts Francesco II, the last King of the Two Sicilies, a significant figure at a pivotal moment in Italian history. Inspired by the most iconic photograph of the sovereign, the model faithfully captures his distinctive features: a slender face, a resolute gaze, and a posture marked by dignity. His military uniform, adorned with decorations, reflects both his royal status and the turbulent political and military context of his reign.

Francesco II ascended the throne in 1859, shortly before the unification of Italy led by Garibaldi. His reign was brief but intense, culminating in the fall of the Kingdom of the Two Sicilies in 1861. As a symbol of an old world giving way to the sweeping changes of the 19th century, he represents the end of a dynasty and a long-standing order.

Designed for 3D printing, this bust follows a classical sculptural approach, emphasizing strong volumes, facial structure, and key elements of his uniform. The result is a faithful and expressive interpretation of the figure, in the tradition of historical portrait busts.
