Introducing the Customisable Skadis Bin Generator
Standard storage bins rarely accommodate the exact dimensions of our tools and components, often leading to wasted space or awkwardly crammed hardware on our IKEA Skådis pegboards. Whether you are managing an electronics workbench, sorting precision fasteners, or organising heavy crafting tools, off-the-shelf solutions simply do not offer the granular control required for a truly optimised workspace. To resolve this, I have engineered the Flat-Pack Skådis Bin Generator.
Generating Your Bespoke Bin
Accessing the generator is straightforward using MakerWorld’s built-in Parametric Model Maker. Instead of downloading a static file, click the green "Customize" button at the top of the model page. On mobile select the “Prepare to Print” button then select the green "Customise model"
Within the parameters panel on the left side of the interface, you can tailor the bin exactly to your requirements:
- Width & Height: Adjusted in 40mm increments to perfectly align with the standard Skådis grid system.
- Depth: Scalable in 10mm increments to accommodate anything from shallow trays for SD cards to deep bins for hand tools.
- Lattice vs. Solid: Toggle the Lattice parameter (1 for on, 0 for off) to switch between a lightweight, visible-contents design and a solid structural panel.
- Inserts & Dividers: Enable custom internal inserts (1) and specify the exact number of Dividers you need to keep your small parts segregated.
Once configured, simply hit the blue "Generate" button to preview your model, followed by "Download" to export your unique files for slicing.

Key Benefits
- Massive Parametric Sizing: Generate dimensions ranging from 80x60x80mm up to 320x240x160mm.
- Custom Divider Inserts: Automatically generate drop-in inserts tailored to your specific bin dimensions, ensuring hardware remains rigorously sorted.
- Flat-Pack Assembly: The individual panels print flat for maximum strength and bed adhesion and slot together via engineered joints to create a highly rigid final structure.
- Support-Free Geometry: Print cleanly without the need for support material, saving filament and post-processing time.
- Interchangeable Aesthetics: Swap between solid panels for a clean look or a lattice frame to quickly identify contents.

Technical Printability
I typically run these in Sunlu PLA+ or standard PETG for enhanced impact resistance. Given the flat-pack nature of the design, an optimal first layer is paramount.
- Structural Integrity: For robust joints that will withstand heavy, continuous loading, bump your wall loops to 3 or 4. This is far more effective for overall strength than simply increasing infill density. A 15% infill is perfectly adequate for the internal panel structures.
- Bed Adhesion: Because the panels print entirely flat against the build plate, they rely heavily on excellent bed adhesion to prevent warping at the corners. Ensure your plate is thoroughly cleaned and degreased before starting a batch.
- Supports: The geometry is fully optimised for support-free printing. Ensure your cooling is dialled in to handle the bridging sections on the panels and Insert.

Conclusion
Stop settling for standard, one-size-fits-all storage. With the new Flat-Pack Skadis Bin Generator, you are in complete control of your organisation system. Mix and match colours, divide your spaces, and build the ultimate pegboard setup.
