Description

A parametric plastic holdback for outdoor curtains on pergolas, gazebos, and similar frames. It pinches curtain fabric (typically along a hem) so you can gather or secure the panel. A zip tie passes through matching slots on both arms; when you tighten the tie, the clip closes and the curved section bites the fabric so it stays put.

 

How you mount it
Print the part flat on the build plate. Wrap it around the curtain where you want holdback tension, fold the moving side 180° over the hem or stack of fabric, then feed a zip tie through both openings (the aligned slots) and cinch. Trim the tail if you like. No screws or drill holes in the clip itself—only the zip tie.

 

Why parametric
OpenSCAD source exposes the curved “bite” diameter, arm length, wall thickness, overall height, and zip-tie slot size in the Customizer, so you can match thicker hems, different tie widths, or a larger/smaller wrap without redrawing geometry.

 

Printing
Orient with the flat base on the bed (default orientation from the .scad). Use enough walls / perimeters so the living hinge–style arms survive bending. PETG or ASA are good candidates for outdoor heat and UV; PLA can work under cover but may creep in hot sun.

 

Tips
Size zip-tie slot dimensions to your tie’s head and strap width so it threads easily but does not pull through when tight. If the fabric slips, increase friction (rougher filament, slightly smaller inner curve) or use a wider zip tie so you can tension harder without crushing the cloth.
